Chemistry Practical Experiments

Boost your chemistry understanding with hands-on practical lessons designed for secondary school students in Singapore.

Our engaging sessions make complex concepts easier to understand through real-world experiments. Students gain confidence and develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

These practicals are essential for fostering a better understanding of Chemistry to better prepare students for the school exams.

How do we Teach our Chemistry Tuition

  • Students start with 1 to 1 lessons to assess their starting point, to scaffold and to build foundation.
  • Individualised Learning Plans tailored to suit the student's pace and to cover gaps in their learning.
  • Scheduled lessons once a week for 2 hours which includes 15 mins of Q&A (students are encouraged to ask questions from their school work as well).
  • Daily Whatsapp, Telegram and Online Zoom support for students who need regular guidance (just message us your doubts and questions and we will clear it up with a reply or explain to you live via Zoom).
  • Extra lessons to catch up either via Zoom online or Physical Lessons at the tuition centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our curriculum at Catalyst closely aligns with the educational framework used in Singaporean schools. If there are specific topics covered in your current school that aren't addressed in our program, our teachers will gladly provide additional support by reviewing those topics separately at a convenient time.

Some of the weekly lessons will be focused on answering practical questions and we have adhoc laboratory sessions around their examination periods to allow students to gain confidence for hands on experiments and to prepare them well before they enter the practical examinations.

Students are encouraged to provide their school topics as soon as they are are available.  We will structure our lessons to follow closely to the school topics.

In MOE schools, the teacher-to-student ratio tends to be higher, and School Teachers adhere to a fixed Scheme of Work (SOW) that may not necessarily sync with your child's learning pace.

At Catalyst, we prioritize personalized attention. Our teachers initiate one-on-one sessions with your child initially, identifying any learning gaps and establishing the most effective starting point for their lessons. Our approach is tailored to accommodate the unique needs of each student, allowing us to adjust the teaching pace accordingly.

Furthermore, our teachers undergo continuous training to stay abreast of the latest syllabus and teaching methodologies. This ensures that your child receives not only personalized attention but also instruction that aligns with the current curriculum, giving them a competitive edge in their exams.

Yes. We offer some alternatives to ensure your child is up to speed with our curriculum. We have replacement classes (your child can join a similar class if there are vacancies for that week) or zoom classes (in the case your child only can do through online for that week.

Bridging the Gap in Chemistry Education

Singapore’s Chemistry curriculum typically unfolds across three schooling stages, spanning from Secondary School to Tertiary Education. Three important sub-concepts exists which includes Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.

Unfortunately, Chemistry is seldom introduced to students in any form during primary school, Matter being the only relevant topic primary school science curriculum. As most students lack the foundational introduction of essential Chemistry concepts, this leads to challenges for them when they have to pick it up in secondary school.

At Catalyst Maths & Science, our goal is to facilitate a smoother transition for you and cultivate an appreciation for the intricacies of Chemistry through engaging lessons that incorporate audio, verbal, and visual aids. We are committed to simplifying the learning process for this complex subject. Once you develop a passion for Chemistry, improved grades will naturally follow.
